Stuff that you can't help but laugh at....

So I get a called from a good friend of mine who's staying with me in NOLA today, saying she arrived without any problems. Since my flight was canceled till Saturday for the third time this week I told her where my landlord had hidden the house key and she's more then welcome to stay at my place. She asks for my address and I tell her 4835 (insert my street name here).

An awkward silence occurs on the phone, when she precedes to say, "Raveen there is someone inside the house". I then blurt out that's not possible because my landlords are gone till Sunday! She's a little worried as I can tell just from her voice when she's says,"Raveen, I'm not kidding someone is really inside the house."

At this point I tell her I'll recheck my address to make sure I didn't mix it up off the top of my head when I realize the actual address is in fact 4853....OOPS!!! That's what she gets for calling me while I'm still half asleep. She's relieved at this point because the key hadn't floated away in the hurricane, and the place is not in shambles. I guess it might have also helped that there weren't stranger's rummaging through the household. We have a good laugh about the mix up and then hang up the phone.

Hopefully I'll get to NOLA on Saturday but I don't have my hopes up after everything that's happened so far. I mean my rotations that were supposed to start on the 8th are now pushed to the 15th so I got some extra time to get back into the medical student mode. As much as I've enjoyed relaxing and catching up with old friends for the last month and a half, I'm looking forward to becoming productive once again. Its gotten to the point where my once superpower abilities of being lazy have been drowned out (yes only b/c of Gustav am I using drowned) by trying to be productive and not waste time. Dam you medical school and your ways!!!
