First year reflection

I remember the anticipation and anxiety dredged up before starting my first year of medical school. A year later, aged like a wine not made with grapes but instead pluripotent stem cells, it’s interesting to reflect retropertioneally, I mean reflecting back to a year filled with progress up the totem pole of medicine from insignificant pissant to slight more knowledgeable insignificant pissant. From feeling so overwhelmed with the plethora of information thrown at you, to conquering that information and realizing your fate is similar to Sisyphus. Mountains upon mountains of Snapple caps filled with facts and insights that may or may not be helpful when that stranger comes and places his trust into your feeble hands. And in the end I can’t help but become excited by this daunting task of trying to tame medicine. Even though I know that no amount of effort and knowledge will ever allow me to conquer the field. If this is my tragic flaw so be it, there are worse fates.

Till next time....
